Analysis of Process Variables

Control and Improve Service and Production Processes

Analysis of Process Variables

Learn how to apply ANOVA (Analysis Of Variance) to determine your most important process variables.

Analysis of Process variables - What will you learn?

Often the results we get from business processes are determined by many influencing factors. This equally applies to service as well and manufacturing processes. Sometimes there are so many factors involved it can feel overwhelming.

But which factors are most important, and which have little effect?

This can be difficult to determine without the right techniques. This training course shows you how to identify, quantify, and separate the vital few factors in your process from the trivial many.

Once you understand which factors are most important, you can focus on monitoring and controlling these ones rather than being in the dark or ending up measuring and monitoring “everything in sight”.

Often, some process input factors interact with others. Important interactions require attention. We’ll show you how to deal with these.

This training course is designed for non-statisticians!

The tool we will use in this training is called “ANOVA” which stands for Analysis of variance. This technique has been around for a very long time. However, only with the advent of the right software, which removes the drudgery of the arithmetic, has the method become accessible for busy professionals.

This 2-day course covers both the theory and the practice of Analysis of Variance. We cover many real-life case studies from both administrative and production processes.

Our emphasis is on giving you a thorough understanding of the techniques first, before showing you how to perform the analysis with ease using our favoured platform, Minitab.

Following this course, you will be able to immediately apply the techniques at your place of work.

Course Format

The training is delivered via live Zoom / Teams sessions with email support where required.

You will be part of a small select cohort of participants.

A full set of colour printed notes will be provided for you.

A Training Completion Certificate is issued on completion of the module.

Join this course in the knowledge that if you wish to take your data analysis skills to the next level, you can build on this course with a range of other standalone modules. All of our Minitab modules are delivered as 2-day sessions.

Minitab

Minitab is recognised as a leading platform in the field of data analysis. We use Minitab as our software of choice for SPC training.

Despite its enormous power, Minitab has a friendly user interface that makes it easy for complete beginners to get started and then move on to more sophisticated techniques.

We have been using Minitab for over 20 years in countless data analysis scenarios with more than 100 organisations. It remains our favourite route to understanding data, converting this to valuable information, and making the right business decisions as a result.

In SPC, there’s only so much you can do with Excel, Minitab does it all!

Analysis of Process Variables - ANOVA - what we cover:

  • Our process has so many variables it works by “Black Magic” – really?
  • Subjective and objective ways of finding your most important process variables
  • The agony of having so many variables at play, and how to narrow these down
  • How to identify and quantify sources of process variation
  • Understanding interactions between variables
  • The techniques of ANOVA: One-Way, Two-Way, Balanced, General.
  • Dealing with variables that are fixed and random.
  • Handling situations where you have crossed and nested data.

Who should participate?

People who are interested in their own personal development and who would like to learn about Analysis of Process Variables.

Anyone looking for career development via this certificated programme.

People who want to upskill their problem-solving capabilities and demonstrate what they can achieve within their organisation.

Anyone looking for their first formal training in ANOVA.

Academic qualifications are not required, but reasonable numeracy and familiarity with using Excel will be useful.
